New Faces/Places in BoDo
If you haven’t been to BoDo lately you might be surprised to see a couple new businesses the next time you come! Where Maggie Moo’s used to be is now Gandolfo’s, a New York-style deli that offers a huge selection of delicious sandwiches. My favorite thing about it is the bread – they bake their own and it’s perfect for New York sandwiches.
Another new face on the block is Texas Boogie, formerly the 8th Street Wine Co. It’s now a Texas barbeque place that has a full menu, full bar, and dueling pianos in the evenings. I have only tried the appetizers so far, but they were great and the staff is friendly and prompt. And if it’s style you’re after, you’ll love Lunatic Fringe, the new trendy salon right next door to Idaho Trust. The stylists create fresh and gorgeous looks for everyone, and offer a unique line of hair care products. I’ve been a couple of times to get my hair styled for special events and I loved the way it looked every time. If only I could have them style it every morning!
And finally, it’s Capital City Market season once again! Come down on Saturday morning and stroll through! You’ll find that many of the same vendors have returned, along with some new ones this year. You’d have to spend a few hours to see everything, but it would be time well spent. One new booth that I particularly liked was Cinder Wines. The name Cinder comes from the layers of volcanic remnants found under the vineyards in Idaho. Did I mention the wines are lovely? You can stop by their booth on Saturdays and meet the winemaker, or check them out at www.cinderwines.com.
